Ever notice how at times a wine can taste great, and other times not? Take notice of what you're eating. Foods and wines "pair" or go together better than others. Read bottle lables for suggestions or follow these tips.

General Tips

  • Spicy or highly seasoned foods go best with sweet wines to balance the flavors
  • With tomato sauces or citrus flavors, Zinfandel tends to go nicely
  • Cabernet and Merlot balance the high fat content of steak and pork chops
  • Turkey dinner goes well with Pinot Noir, Gamay, Sparkling Wine, Sauvignon Blanc
  • For dessert, look for wines that are actually sweeter than the dessert: port is heaven with chocolate.
